What I love about water – ocean, lake, river, waterfall – is how it is always changing. Plus ça change, plus c’est la même. Change is inevitable. The challenge is how to capture the depth, the movement. In my abstract, acrylic paintings, water sometimes looks like water, but it also sometimes looks like space or sky. Honestly, it’s not something I always control. Some paintings just happen.

Caribbean / Central & South America
A trip to St. Barth with good friends in 2008 led to a continuing love of the Caribbean, Central and South America. It wasn't just the climate (although that certainly helped), but it was also the beautiful scenery and sunsets, the glorious colors and the warmth of the people. I've now had vacations in Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Ecuador, Peru ... and over the years I've painted what I saw and cherished. While most of these are fairly representational, over time my paintings have become more and more abstract.
