Acrylic thinned with water on raw canvas is ideal for atmospheric, fuzzy, tonal paintings.  But if you've made a mistake, it's almost impossible to correct.  This painting has 5 or 6 layers precisely because the initial mistake (two drops of paint in the wrong place) when corrected was still wrong ... and had to be corrected again ... and again.  The final painting looks a lot like what I initially wanted, but it was torture getting to it.
