DESCRIPTION:
While in Yosemite, I was fascinated by the Ponderosa Pines. Their distinctive bark earns them the name: puzzle tree (as in jigsaw puzzle). There are few branches near the ground (burned off by earlier forest fires) but higher up, the branches go off in strange angles. I painted this particular tree several times before I got it right.
