What I love about water – ocean, lake, river, waterfall – is how it is always changing. Plus ça change, plus c’est la même. Change is inevitable. The challenge is how to capture the depth, the movement. In my abstract, acrylic paintings, water sometimes looks like water, but it also sometimes looks like space or sky. There were a million things to worry about: COVID, climate change, our political situation, Russia, inflation. I needed a break. So I started to paint what began as a sunset but turned into this moody abstract landscape. Although it does look ominous, there is light shining through on the right. And I felt better.
