What I love about water – ocean, lake, river, waterfall – is how it is always changing. Plus ça change, plus c’est la même. Change is inevitable. The challenge is how to capture the depth, the movement. In my abstract, acrylic paintings, water sometimes looks like water, but it also sometimes looks like space or sky. Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe was very peaceful at 9:00 in the morning. While the rest of my safari group were quietly and patiently waiting for us to penetrate the park enough to see the animals, I was busy taking photos of the scenery, the tall grass, the umbrella thorn acacia trees, the beautiful blue sky. I didn't need the animals.
