What I love about water – ocean, lake, river, waterfall – is how it is always changing. Plus ça change, plus c’est la même. Change is inevitable. The challenge is how to capture the depth, the movement. In my abstract, acrylic paintings, water sometimes looks like water, but it also sometimes looks like space or sky. Honestly, it’s not something I always control. Some paintings just happen.

The Pandemic is getting worse and our political situation is dire (our President has been a disaster), so I had to paint something colorful, something that wasn't grim. Hopefully is the third of my optimistic, hopeful paintings (see also Fall Dream and Wishful Thinking) appearing under Abstract/Atmospheric. I simply picked bright colors and created paintings that would cheer me up when I looked at them.
