What I love about water – ocean, lake, river, waterfall – is how it is always changing. Plus ça change, plus c’est la même. Change is inevitable. The challenge is how to capture the depth, the movement. In my abstract, acrylic paintings, water sometimes looks like water, but it also sometimes looks like space or sky. I spent Thanksgiving 2021 in California visiting my new grandson. And while the weather was relatively balmy, I kept hearing news reports of light snow back in New York. The warm weather reminded me of my long ago summers on Fire Island, but I kept adding the first snowfall to the picture. Simple. Clean.
