What I love about water – ocean, lake, river, waterfall – is how it is always changing. Plus ça change, plus c’est la même. Change is inevitable. The challenge is how to capture the depth, the movement. In my abstract, acrylic paintings, water sometimes looks like water, but it also sometimes looks like space or sky. Honestly, it’s not something I always control. Some paintings just happen.

DESCRIPTION:
Bruce Connor's film, Crossroads, containing archival footage of the Bikini Atoll atomic bomb tests in 1946, just blew me away. I couldn't believe all those American ships, obviously placed to observe and record but also, obviously, very much in harm's way. And I watched again and again as that swiftly growing radioactive cloud enveloped each of those ships. What were we thinking?!?
