The challenge is how to capture the depth, the movement. In my abstract, acrylic paintings, water sometimes looks like water, but it also sometimes looks like space or sky. Honestly, it’s not something I always control. Some paintings just happen.

Based on a quick watercolor sketch I did last year when I went to visit family in California. It started with the brown hills near Milpitas and took off from there. This year the hills are really green after all the rain, but that would be a different painting.
